Of Counsel: Leah Heise

Leah Heise, Esq., is the other Heise in our firm. Leah worked for the Federal Government for ten years at the United States Coast Guard and at the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration’s Office of General Counsel for Enforcement. There, Leah drafted Federal regulations, commented on Federal legislation and prosecuted administrative enforcement actions and asset forfeitures for commercial fisheries cases. Through those experiences she built a specialty in enforcement and compliance.

Most recently, Leah’s practice focused on counseling nascent cannabis companies, ancillary service businesses and individuals interested in joining the cannabis industry in everything from business formation, infrastructure creation, operational compliance and personal skill assessment. Her work was comparable to a Chief Executive Officer and General Counsel rolled into one. Leah’s clients and mentees ranged from Patient Scheduling companies to Testing labs to students looking for possible career paths. Leah passionately believes that many skills are transferrable to success in the cannabis space and loves educating and empowering others to ascertain where they fit in the industry and how to make their companies successful.

Leah is currently on a leave of absence from the firm as she has accepted the position of Chief Experience Officer (CXO) with 4Front and Mission Partners (Mission website). As CXO, Leah is responsible for the user experience across the touch point of all of the 4Front brands, from customer to employee. You will still find her at the office on occasion.
